Research and Graduate Work
My research sits at the intersection of statistics and chemistry. I use advanced modeling tools to discover novel bioactive compounds in medicinal plants while simultaneously discovering efficient and reliable approaches to herbal product authentication. I use Ocimum, or basil, as a model species for my graduate projects. I have broad experience in greenhouse experiments, UPLC-MS, GC-MS, multivariate modeling (in R), and bioassays. Learn more about my scientific path! I shared this story at ENVISION, a STEM career day at Penn State in 2022, with a goal to encourage middle and high school girls to peruse a STEM career. I was invited to give this talk after winning first place in the annual IAmStem speaking competition at Penn State.
