Botanical Authentication

As the demand for herbal products increases, so does the likelihood of adulteration and contamination. Untargeted metabolomic and multivariate statistical approaches allow researchers to harness the diversity of plant compounds to confirm the identity of botanicals. This project uses Ocimum (basil) as a model system to investigate the potential of different models (PCA, PLS, and RF) for authentication of market available herbal products. The models are bases on UPLC and DNA-fingerprinting data.
